Luxury Holidays to Cairns

Enchanting Cairns is full of captivating wonders, both natural and manmade. While the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest are the most well-known spots associated with Cairns, there are numerous tourist attractions to pick from.

Great Barrier Reef

The place ranks amongst the best diving sites on the planet. Along with the Daintree Rainforest, it is part of the ‘UNESCO World Heritage List’. Mesmerising coral reefs and amazing marine life spell sheer bliss. Snorkelling, scuba diving, or simply taking a ride on a glass-bottomed boat brings the maximum thrill on your luxury holidays to Cairns.

Daintree Rainforest

Set on an expedition into the expansive Daintree rainforest, which is supposedly the largest unbroken tract of tropical rainforest across mainland Australia and discover some of the flora life here that dates back to prehistoric times.

Cairns Wildlife Dome

Get up close and personal with kooaburras, snakes, koalas and other exotic Australian fauna species in the Cairns Wildlife Dome enclosed inside glass dome on the top of the city’s spectacular Reef Hotel Casino. The star attraction is a gigantic saltwater crocodile measuring some 4 metres in length.

Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park

The Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park offers a rare fun-filled insight into Aboriginal culture and practices. This is the first Aboriginal cultural attraction in Australia, and has supposedly collected the maximum number of awards. Traditional song and dance performances, didgeridoo playing, boomerang and spear throwing lessons, and boomerang painting are some of its key attractions.

The Cairns Museum

Different shades of Cairns’ history come alive at this museum in the form of captivating colourful exhibits. Star attractions include a large collection of weapons made by dwellers of the Aboriginal rainforest as well as the remnants of a Chinese temple. The museum is also a treasure trove of information on aviation history.

Flecker Botanic Gardens

Situated just about 4 km from the city centre, the Flecker Botanic Gardens is the perfect spot for a quick getaway to the wilderness. The experience is almost akin to a visit to the rainforest. The Aboriginal Plant Use section, Orchid House, and Fernery remain the major draws here.

Besides sightseeing, Cairns also emerges as a shopper’s delight with choices like the ‘Night Markets’, the ‘Esplanade Markets’, ‘Rusty’s Market’, and ‘The Cairns Central shopping centre’ to name just a few. Although not as vibrant as found in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney Cairns does offer some nightlife entertainment options. The CBD area is home to at least five nightclubs apart from bars in the city, the iconic Reef Hotel Casino, a number of cinemas for travellers to pick from. Dinner cruises in the calm waters along the popular Trinity Inlet brings you the best of Cairns at night.
