Shopping in MarmarisShopping in Marmaris can be a delightful affair. Whether it is leather, carpets, fishing equipment, decorative copper goods, embroidered handicrafts, ornaments, local jam and honey or interesting artefacts, the port city has it all. Carsi Market, also known as Marmaris Grand Bazaar and Netsel Marina are the biggest shopping centres in the town. While shops and outlets can be found all across the island, shopping at one of the village markets and flea markets is an experience of its own.

Eating Out in MarmarisLargely influenced by Persian, Mediterranean, Central Asian, Balkan, and Middle Eastern cuisines, food is a major draw card of Marmaris. Kuzu Güveç (Turkish meat and eggplant casserole), lamb kebabs, köfte (meatballs), hummus (spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas or other beans), dolma (vine leaves, peppers, pumpkin or aubergines stuffed with rice and/or meat), Börek (thin layers of dough stuffed with meat, cheese and vegetables) and cacik (cucumber with yogurt and dried mint) are among the must try local dishes in the city. Baklava (walnuts sweetened and wrapped in sweet pastry), lokma (fried dough dipped in syrup) and helva (sautéed semolina, pine nuts, butter, sugar and milk) are the famous Turkish sweets available in Marmaris. Netsel Marina and Marmaris Castle Area are the best places to enjoy these remarkable dishes.

Best Time to Visit MarmarisMarmaris has hot humid summers and mild rainy winters. Usually the period from April to May and September-October are considered the best times to visit Marmaris. During these periods, the weather is great and ideal for people to enjoy outdoor sightseeing and other activities.
