Gulf Beaches Historical Museum Built in the vicinity of the first church in the area, Gulf Beaches Historical Museum documents the history of Pass-a-Grille Communities that resided in the area. Open to public since 1993, the motto of the museum is "To collect, preserve and exhibit the history of the barrier islands." Ideal for an educating afternoon with your family, the museum has images and postcards dating back to the World War II. There's also a small gift shop where you can buy books, jewellery, brochures etc as souvenirs.
Don CeSar Resort Popular as a retreat for the rich and famous in St. Pete Beach, Don CeSar Resort is one of the most popular hotels in the USA. The ultra-luxurious hotel has also featured in many Hollywood movies including 2016 film 'The Infiltrator'. But the opulence of the hotel is not the only thing that makes it famous. The resort also finds several ghost stories associated with it, and is considered haunted by many. In fact, visitors can take two-hour long ghost tours of the resort as offered by a few local sightseeing companies. The resort is also a part of Historic Hotels of America, a programme by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Fort De Soto ParkComprised of five interconnected islands spread over 1136 acres, Fort De Soto Park is the largest park within the Pinellas County. A sanctuary of birds, animals, plants and marine life, the park is one of the largest systems dedicated to the preservation and conservation of diverse species of plants and animals. Among the activities that you can undertake here are picnicking, hiking, bicycling as well as kayaking. You can also take a ferry to Egmont Key State Park from here. With over 320 species of birds, the park presents excellent bird watching opportunities, and is even considered a 'gateway site' for Great Florida Birding Trail.
Treasure IslandIf you visit with the hope of discovering a hidden treasure of jewels, you will be disappointed (though, the place did get its name because of a story in which treasure was discovered here). But if you are looking for a few moments of absolute fun, the place indeed has a treasure of white sandy beaches that are centres of tourist interest. With parasailing, snorkelling and swimming opportunities, the fun never ends here, and a plethora of excellent restaurants and bistros only make the place more vibrant.
Pass-a-Grille BeachLocated in the Pinellas County alongside Pass-a-Grille Historic District and Gulf Beaches Historical Museum, Pass-a-Grille beach attracts crowds of visitors due to its white sands, waterfront restaurants, dolphin watching opportunities and fishing piers. Hundreds of people gather here for witnessing beautiful sunsets behind the piers every evening. Accessible from the beach is the Shell Key Reserve, an undeveloped barrier island that serves as home to migrating birds. Visitors can boat to the shallow waters of the island preserve if the tides are low.
