Mumbai - Nashik (Deccan Odyssey)

Get ready for a mesmeric journey aboard the Deccan Odyssey. Gather at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at around 1530 hours. Before embarking on this splendid journey, we need to complete the registration process and check-in formalities. Enjoy a traditional welcome and savor a refreshing welcome drink. Day 4


This morning, Deccan Odyssey reaches the holy city of Nashik. After enjoying your breakfast onboard, go for a pleasant stroll along the Godavari Ghats. Observe and experience different Hindu rituals being performed at the Ghats. Later on, explore the lively market set by the Ghats. A number of vendors here sell a variety of goods, right from vegetables and cow dung cakes to lentils and dried seafood.

Drive towards Grover Zampa vineyards for a tour to a popular vineyard there. This delightful tour is your chance to get an insight of the ancient methods used for preparing some of the finest wines in India. Then, meet the sommelier at the vineyard who will serve you from the collections of white, red, rose and sparkling wines. Enjoy your favorite wine, along with some delicious food. Day 5

Aurangabad – Ellora Caves

This morning, Deccan Odyssey reaches Aurangabad, the industrial town of Maharashtra. Named after the last Great Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb, the city is where you can experience an interesting mix of history and modern development.

Enjoy breakfast onboard and then drive towards the fascinating Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most renowned historical attractions in India. Explore over 30 rock-cut shrines that are among the finest examples of cave temple architecture in India. The shrines represent Buddhist, Jain and Hindu art that date back to the 4th and 5th centuries AD. Here, you can explore as many as 12 Buddhist caves, 17 Hindu caves and 5 Jain caves. The main highlight of the caves is ancient Kailash temple, which is a replica of Lord Shiva’s celestial abode on Mt. Kailash. Lunch is served onboard the Deccan Odyssey.

This morning, the Deccan Odyssey reaches Jalgaon station, and you get to enjoy a delicious breakfast onboard. After that, drive to Ajanta Caves, another UNESCO World Heritage site in Maharashtra. With 30 rock-cut Buddhist caves, which are amazingly carved, and many superb sculptures and paintings of Buddhist religious art, this place is simply a treat to eyes and senses. Savor lunch onboard the train, which will leave for the spectacular city of Kolhapur.

Apart from a variety of handicrafts and beautiful jewelry, Kolhapur markets are popular for selling delicious local food. Enjoy Lavanya Sandhya, a popular folk performance. Head to the ancient and revered Mahalakshmi temple to get blessings of the Goddess Shakti. Later on, you can witness a traditional martial arts performance called ‘Mardani Khel’. Goa is one of India’ most beautiful states, featuring a perfect mix of nature, culture and adventure. After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour in Goa. Drive to Fontainhas, the Latin Quarters in Panjim featuring many nicely-preserved houses built in complete Portuguese style of architecture. Explore the region’s cultural and historical significance before leaving for Ribandar, the erstwhile capital of Goa. Here, you explore the age-old churches and the ruins of the St. Augustine tower.

Drive to the Sahakari spice plantation to enjoy its spectacular scenery and a traditional Goan feast. After lunch, there will be a Goan folk performance and a tour to explore the spice plantation. Visiting an old Potuguese house and sneaking a peep into Goan life is another highlight of the day. Enjoy dinner at the Deccan Odyssey as it departs for Sindhudurg.
